Colorado inmate claims Prince is his father
A Colorado prison inmate has filed a DNA paternity case with a Minnesota court against the estate of Prince, the latest claimant in exactly what could possibly become a long line of people insisting they're qualified to part of the musician's fortune. Court and prison documents show Williams is at the optimal safety federal jail in Florence, Colorado, after pleading guilty in 2013 to unjustifiably delivering a firearm. He was sentenced to 7 years and eight months behind bars.
Carlin Q. Williams, of Kansas City, Missouri, is looking for DNA testing to determine if Prince is his natural father, according to papers filed this past week in Carver County District Court in the Minneapolis. In a sworn statement, Williams' mother, Marsha Henson, swears that she became pregnant with Carlin after making love with Prince in a Kansas City, Missouri hotel in July of 1976. Henson specified that her boy was conceived that day and was born April 8, 1977. She stated she was single at the time and also had had no intercourse for six weeks prior to her relations with Prince. She also swears that she did not have sex with any individual during the time she was pregnant.
The judge looking after the estate has authorized genetic screening of Prince's blood in the event it’s required to establish DNA matches to people who are claiming they are relatives and entitled to share in his estate. Prince died April 21 at his house in the Minneapolis area of Chanhassen. The case remains under examination.
